Paramount+ today announced that its Australian original series, Fake, has fast become a water cooler hit and is officially the biggest first week launch of a local drama since Paramount+ arrived in Australia.
The eight-part series, inspired by journalist Stephanie Wood’s memoir of the same name, is available to stream now and has sent a surge of new subscribers to Paramount+.
In the hands of two of the country’s finest, Gold Logie award-winning actress Asher Keddie (The Lost Flowers Of Alice Heart, Nine Perfect Strangers, Offspring) and Australian Film Institute award-winning actor David Wenham (Elvis, Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers & Return Of The King), Fake is a visceral psychological thriller that resonates with anyone who has ever been lied to.
Daniel Monaghan, SVP Content & Programming, said: “We are absolutely delighted by the number of viewers that have already binged all eight episodes of Fake on Paramount+.
“This powerful new drama series has been brought to life by the outstanding performances from Asher Keddie and David Wenham, and the creative vision of Kindling Pictures has been embraced wholeheartedly by new and existing subscribers alike. It’s a thrilling watch and we couldn’t be prouder.”
Fake is a Kindling Pictures production for Paramount+ Australia, with major production investment from Paramount ANZ and Screen Australia, in association with VicScreen. Entertainment One (eOne) will handle international sales.
Fake joins a host of the world’s best entertainment currently streaming on Paramount+, including Top Gear Australia, Melissa Etheridge: I’m Not Broken, A Gentleman In Moscow, Knuckles, Elsbeth, Little Wing, Evil Season Four, Star Trek: Discovery Season Five, The Gilded Age Season Two, Let The Canary Sing, NCIS: Sydney, Frasier and The Family Stallone Season Two, with Mafia Spies Season One, The Inspired Unemployed (Impractical) Jokers Season Two, The Last King of The Cross Season Two, Tales Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Seal Team Season Seven streaming soon.
